10 Easy Halloween Costumes

Halloween is less than 2 weeks away. If you’re like most college kids, you haven’t figured out a costume yet. No worries, Campus Squeeze is here to save the day. Here are 10 easy costumes made with cardboard!

1. An iPod
Paint the box white, paint the circular dial, cut out head hole and 2 arm holes. Wear all white, for added effect, attach long white ropes with “ear buds” cut out of cardboard. Simply punch a hole in the “ear buds” and tie the rope (or shoelaces) to it!

2. Legos
C’mon who doesn’t love legos? Everyone has fond memories of creating buildings, cars and castles (if you were the rich snobby kid who’s parents could afford to buy him the cool castle, dragon, and moat lego set).

To be a single lego: cut off the bottom flaps of a large box, cut a hole for your head and 2 arm holes, paint it blue, red or yellow depending on what color solo cups you have. Glue solo cups rim down to the front of the box in 3-4 rows of 3 cups. You can do the same on the back if you wish. *I’m not sure the crazy mask is necessary.

Lego Man: This is far more complicated. You’ll need 2 tall boxes for each of your legs; paint them the same color. Then another large box for your torso; paint that a different color. Glue solo cups onto each box as described above. If you’re really into it, you can create a lego man head with paper mache or poster board. Good luck peeing in this one!

*You can also take this idea and be a robot. Feel free to be a kinky robot or a beer dispensing robot…let your imagination run wild!

3. Rubik’s Cube
This one is slightly more labor intensive. Take a medium to large box, paint different colored same-sized squares on all 5 sides (there is no bottom because you’re legs need to mobile), outline the squares with black marker or paint.

4. Die
Similar to the Rubik’s Cube idea; paint your box white, cut out head and arm holes, paint black circles on each of the 5 sides to imitate a die. You can also cut out black circles from construction paper or trash bags and glue them on.

Dice Costume

5. Tetris/Jenga
The accompanying picture is of tetras, definitely a good idea if you have a few friends and some time. And easier take on the same concept is to wear a large box (if the box has markings or a logo on it, you should paint it light brown or cover it with brown paper grocery bags); using a thick black marker or black paint, draw lines across the box to mimic blocks…ta da Jenga!

6. Paint poster board (because it’s flexible and will bend into a cylinder) to mimic your favorite: beer can, instant lunch, milkshake, canned soup or veggies, etc.

7. Bagged Goodies

Again use poster board. Paint your favorite ‘bagged food’ logo (chips, pretzels, snacks, frozen vegetables, etc.) Glue or staple 2 pieces of poster board at your shoulders. You don’t necessarily need a hot ass, but it is a nice accessory. *Again think about the feasibility of urination.

8. Beer Warrior
Thank god you didn’t throw away all those beer boxes that have been piling up in the corner for months. Use them to create a chest shield, shin guards, arm guards, a helmet or even a plated skirt (see picture below).

9. Boxed Wine

Always a party favorite! Paint a medium to large box to mimic your favorite brand of boxed wine. Attach a spout conveniently at crotch level and let the ladies drink for free!

10. God’s gift to women
Cut the bottom flaps off a large box, wrap it in wrapping paper of your choice, cut a hole for your head and 2 arm holes, attach a bow, create a large ‘gift tag’ that says “To: Women, From: God”

Other easy box costume ideas: TV, X-ray machine (paint a white skeleton of chest and pelvis), Nintendo controller, refrigerator (complete with magnets, report cards, and a grocery list), your favorite boxed food (cereal, crackers, frozen dinners, etc.).

Remember, avoid head gear that covers your mouth. You want to able to drink beer easily without disturbing your attire. And keep in mind you’ll have to pee through out the night.
