These small, lightweight headphones get incredibly good bass response for being so small. They also seal well around your ears to block out noise.
Koss PortaPro ($34.99)

These open headphones don’t cancel noise so their best for activities where you want to be somewhat in touch with your surroundings, like jogging. Don’t be turned off, they still provide a crisp, clear sound.
JVC HA-NC80-J/-C ($35-$39)

Specifically designed to cancel outside noise with “low” and “wide” frequency canceling settings. Besides a stellar price, the sound quality is pretty good as well.
Sennheiser PX 100 ($33-$40)

If you’re turned off by the bulk and weight of the other noise canceling headphones, you should check these out. Their classified as “lightweight” or “mini headphones.” The come with a “rugged transport case” which is a nicer, more sturdy option than others that come with pouches. This way you can just throw them in your backpack and not worry they’ll get banged up.
