The number of video sharing sites has grown exponentially in the last couple years. Here is a short list of our favorite, free video sites. Whether you want to submit a video or just kill some time watching.
6) Metacafe
A user generated, user reviewed, and user ranked video site, metacafe is attractive because they pay you if your video is ranked high enough through their Producer Rewards program. No sell out, just a popularity contest rewarded with moolah.
5) Brightcove
Brightcove offers a free membership that allows you to create your own online channel. Unlike Metacafe, you earn money on Brightcove via advertisement. Your video needs at least 1,000 views a month to be considered for embedded advertising. Once you're approved, Brightcove will sell the spots and you get 50% of the ad revenue.
4) Viddler
Viddler's claim to fame is tagging and commenting as specific moments in a video. This feature allows you as the submitter to tag and highlight different points in the video. It also provides an additional interactive tool for users to comment. Plus you can reply with a comment or a video reply.
3) Revver
Revver provides a more certain opportunity to make money off your videos. Create and submit your video, Revver will embed an advertisement in your video. When people watch your video you get 20% of what the advertiser pays Revver. If folks follow the link at the end of the video, you get 50%. Not a bad deal.
2) Vimeo
Vimeo may not be the biggest video sharing site, but they're a step ahead with their HD capabilities. Not only can you watch videos in HD, Vimeo gives you step-by-step easy instructions on how to upload your video in HD.
1) YouTube
We don't have to tell you about YouTube. It's the most well known video sharing site out there which means a huge audience at your finger tips. Go ahead and take advantage.
There you have it. We never claimed it was an exhaustive list (whaddya think we have nothing better to do?) but spend some time checking out the above sites. They're some of our favorites.
