If you're under 70, you probably watched a lot of TV in the influential decade known as the 90s. For whatever reason, America experienced a sit-com surge during that time period, prompting such viewing events as "Must See TV" and "TGIF," TV audiences enjoyed a veritable cornucopia of hilarity for a long time. Here's a list, in no particular order, of some memorable 90's sit com intro sequences.
The Drew Carey Show
Hilarious show, awesome intro, despite the fact that it leaves you wondering, "Where the hell is Drew Carey from?"
The Drew Carey Show BONUS!!
Some Drew Carey enthusiasts would argue that THIS is the better of the two intros. Judge for yourself.
Full House
While the show was mind numbing in its depiction of American family life, Full House
Step By Step
Every kid in America wanted to splash their parents with a theme park ride after watching Step By Step. Watch for the shamelessly superimposed ocean at the end.
Home Improvement
Tim Allen rocks it as the dad on Home Improvement. Remember how your dad used to imitate his trademark growling and weird noises?
Mad About You
Oh Paul Reiser, you disappeared after this show ended, and Helen Hunt went on to make some pretty solid movies which is proof positive that sit-com popularity doesn't ALWAYS translate to further success. Sorry, Matt LeBlanc.
Family Matters
Our favorite moment of the intro sequence? Grandma reading Rolling Stone. And who doesn't love the "stop-whatever-action-you-are-performing-to-give-the-camera-a-ridiculously-over-exaggerated-smile" technique that was so prevalent during that time period?
Blossom
Despite Joey Lawrence's lame "Whoa" line that found its way into every friggin' episode, the intro sequence is hilarious. Look at all the classic 90's clothes you used to own. Wait for the final shot when we get a close up of Mayim Bialik's massive schnoz!
Saved By The Bell
Oh man, who doesn't feel like a kid again watching this? Every guy wanted their own Kelly Kapowski, but generally were forced to settle for Lisa Turtle...or worse, Jessie Spano. And much like the Jessie Spano clone you dated in high school, you awkwardly ran into her at a strip club years later.
Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
Try and stop yourself from rapping along with Will Smith. While this isn't a "Top 10 Best Of" list per se, this intro is easily the greatest in history, perhaps?
