Although they are “concept” phones, many of these phones reveal technology and features that are in our not so distant future. These phones and technologies in general are the future of our world, so get ready life is about to get a whole lot more interesting.
Nokia Express
Designed by Provoke for Nokia, the express phone is meant to “express” emotion. The phone allows users to change color and ultimately the “mood” of the phone with just the touch of a button.
Cuusoo Detachable LCD
This phone allows it’s users to move from cell phone to video conference center in a matter of seconds. Clearly made for the business person on the go, it’s a wonder this phone hasn’t been pushed to the assembly line.
Microsoft Zune 3
This one may already be in development but obviously it is still a “concept” for many. The Zune 3 is meant to take a big chunk of the Iphone market with it’s complete touch screen look and features. The major difference? The Zune 3 will be offered with 16 and 32 GB of space.
Nokia Aeon
This phone is definitely a cool one. Is all touch screen but still looks like a phone unlike the Iphone. The coolest thing about this one is that it would use a liquid battery!
Egg Mobile
The egg mobile concept phone is looks exactly as it sounds. The designer of this phone Roman Tubl created a sleek contemporary looking phone with an illuminated red strip surrounding a flexible tru color touch screen. Talk about a concept huh?
Wavy Stream
This phone, released by Pantech in conjunction with Korean universities, is so conceptual they don’t even have any specs other than this super cool pic. I know it’s a little girly with the pink, but still a really cool looking phone.
The Edge
Designed by Chris Owen for Ocell.net this fashion phone may not have the technology but it definitely has style. Yet another phone with touch screen, this phone goes a little further using an illuminated sliding glass panel of numbers.
Pen Phone
The pen phone obviously would work off blue tooth and is a pretty nice looking concept phone. The numbers and futuristic style give this phone a place on our list, the crystal blue screen and “touch numbers” are definitely something of the future.
Heart Phone
The heart phone was designed with young kids in mind, or even the big kids at heart. This phone has 4 speed dial numbers that will allow kids to dial directly to parents and a really cool game switchy thing that turn it from cell phone to heart shaped game console.
Nokia 888 Communicator
The Communicator like the Aeon is said to function off a liquid battery. The phone is completely bendable and has a full touch screen. It’s a little funky though, it would require blue tooth to really be a phone. It’s cool and bendy though earning it a spot on our list.
BenQ-Siemens Snaked
This phone would feature body monitoring sensors and cool wrap around feature with all controls on the outside. It’s a little big as compared to the other phones but the Snake seems to pretty functional with speakerphone.
Blackberry Thunder
This concept phone is being created for mass consumption, but hasn't hit the streets yet. Said to launch in Q3 of this year or early ’09 I’m looking forward to seeing this one on the market. Only 4 physical keys and a whole lot of blackberry functionality earn this a spot on our list.
Lazy Thumb
This phone was designed by Koo Ho Shin, and was made for those of us who don’t want to be bothered with using our hands on our cell phone. It only has 3 real physical buttons and uses voice recognition to convert text.
These 13 phones are the epitome of futuristic design and a sure hope for the future of cell phones. Many will be “concepts” forever while others like the blackberry thunder may be much more than that. Either way one can only hope that future cell phones will be so damn cool.
