Asshole is definitely a game for those who like power and enjoy getting people drunk. It’s an age-old game and is super fun, but also just a little complicated. Obviously we at CampusSqueeze want you to enjoy yourself so we’ve broken it down for easy reading and playing.

The Basics

1. The object of the game is to be the first to get rid of all your cards.
2. You need at least 4 people but can go higher.
3. You pretty much only need a deck of cards and some drinks.
4. The order of cards in terms of importance is as follows
5. 1. 2- most important trumps all other cards and can be played at anytime.
   2. Then A, King, Queen

 

How to Play

The first hand of the game is the deciding round for the rest of the game. Cards are dealt to all players and someone is chosen to play the first card. The second person to play has two options.

1. Play a card higher or equal card than the previous card.
2. Pass and drink

 

If a player doesn’t have any cards to throw they must drink and pass.

If a player has a 2 they can place it down at anytime, and everyone must drink.

Keep going around until you get rid of your cards. (first person out is President for the next round). Each consecutive player out gets a title.

1. Vice President (2nd person to get rid of their cards)
2. Normal People ( can be given names like secretary or treasurer but pretty much all on the same level)
3. Asshole ( is always the last person out)

Once all players have gotten rid of their cards you begin the real fun.

1. President always leads the game and can make anyone else in the game drink at their leisure. No one can make the President drink.
2. Vice-President can make anyone but the president drink. Likewise, only the president can make the VP drink.
3. Normal People can make each other and the asshole drink.
4. The asshole cannot make anyone drink, and is usually the one abused. They must deal the cards, clear the cards, and always goes last.

 

Helpful Tips

1. The game is almost like uno, except you can’t put down the same card as the preceding player. For example if the president places down two 5s then the VP must place at least two 6s or two of any higher card. No less than two!
2. The ranking system changes with each game, so you can abuse your power as president but it can come back to you.
3. The asshole usually has to give the President their 2 best cards, and the President gives the asshole their 2 worst cards.
4. While dealing the asshole can tell anyone to drink. But it’s back to normal rules as soon as the game begins.
