Thanksgiving has come and gone, that holiday music is already making your ears bleed and everyone is in the mood to drink! Last week we brought you an amazing recipe for Spiced Cider and we have completed two weeks of worthy Holiday Gift Guides, so this week, we are taking you on a little trip down Egg Nog Lane. And before you get your panties in a knot about liking or not liking the Nog, we suggest you try each and every one of these recipes and relax. Better still, see that girl in the corner? Have her do the taste testing…

Now, if you’re really into this whole Holiday thing, we suggest giving homemade eggnog a shot.
4 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar, plus 1 tablespoon
1 pint whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
4 egg whites*
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks until they lighten in color. Gradually add the 1/3 cup sugar and continue to beat until it is completely dissolved. Add the milk, cream and nutmeg and stir to combine.
Place the egg whites in another bowl and beat to soft peaks. With the mixer still running gradually add the 1 tablespoon of sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Whisk the egg whites into the mixture. Chill and serve.

If you’re a lazy bah-humbug like the rest of us, go to the corner store and buy Egg Nog.
Now, for the booze. Things that can be combined with Egg Nog. *Note: All of these recipes should be 1/2 Egg Nog, 1/2 Liquor.
Peppermint Schnapps
Bailey’s Irish Cream
Vanilla Vodka and cinnamon
Sweet Whiskey
Kahlua Coffee Liquor

Or do it party style, in a punch bowl and call it Christmas Joy!
1 qt chilled eggnog
5 oz brandy
4 oz dark rum
3 oz dark creme de cacao
1 whole nutmeg
Whisk together the eggnog, brandy, rum and creme de cacao together in a large punch bowl. Add a large block of ice. Grate a little nutmeg over the top of each drink when serving. Makes 8 (6-ounce) punch cups.
