How To IM Covertly - Free Instant Messaging Solutions

We’ve all encountered the situation where there is a need to communicate with someone when you absolutely can’t. In the movies, at church, in a meeting… you know. Let’s say you’re on a public access computer in the library and you discover a site that you need to share with a friend immediately. Like that instant. Maybe you can’t get to your e-mail or it’s so urgent that IM is the only option to get it to them. So since you can’t install your messenger of choice on the computer, we’ve come up with some ways to sneak an IM past that scathing librarian before they catch you and throw you out. Let’s face it, no one wants to be thrown out from the library, along with embarrassment, it’s definitely not good when you have a paper due in a few hours.

Here are the top 20 web messaging sites for even more instant instant messaging:

1. meebo.com- meebo is an awesome third party site that connects you to the most popular IM servers- AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, Google Talk, and you can even create your own meebo account. Very user-friendly and can be accessed almost anywhere

2. KoolIM.com- Again, every IM server you could hope for, including Jabber and ICQ, and the only thing necessary is a browser. No Java Plug-Ins necessary

3. eBuddy.com- Chat made possible with both web and mobile versions

4. Goowy.com- Has IM plus email, calendar, news, RSS, file storage, etc. Hey, tell the librarian you were just looking up a news story, If they’re, let’s say, “out of touch” (which is likely) they’ll believe you

5. SNIMMER.com- This site gets a little more personal by allowing you to IM and create a profile with pictures

6. easymessenger.net- Free service with RSS support with AIM, Jabber, MSN, ICQ, and Yahoo!

7. RadiusIM.com- Google Maps incorporated to locate friends while IMing them

8. mabber.com- go on your phone or website for ultimate connection

9. Yafumato Web Messenger (yafumato.souceforge.net)- open-source IM client that connects to AIM, GTalk, MSN, and Yahoo

10. ILoveIM.com-Doesn’t get blocked by firewalls, but the web-based service has ads; clearly convience has a price here

11. www66.IMhaha.com/webmsg/- Connect with all of your Yahoo!, MSN, and AIM friends but your Google Talk peeps will have to wait ’cause this site doesn’t support them

12. IMunitive.com- No Google Talk for you, but is a pretty nice meebo alternative if you’re out of luck with that site

13. IMO.im- Pretty sweet chat network.where you can log-on to all the networks at the same time

14. Communicationtube.com- ICQ, MSN, IRC, and Google Talk buds in seperate log-ons
