Some of us (girls) are born with the instinctual knowledge of how to wrap a Christmas present. The rest of us sit around dumbfounded that a piece of paper and a box could give us so much trouble!
Step 1:
Be sure to remove all price tags and place the item in a box (for easy wrapping) if it did not already come in one.
Step 2:
Unroll some wrapping paper onto a hard solid surface. Place the gift into the center of the sheet and measure how much paper will be needed.
Step 3:
Mark cut lines if you are not an old pro. This can be tricky if the package is uniquely shaped, so it is good to cut too much than too little. A razor following a ruler will make a perfectly straight line – presentation is always key. Watch your fingers and make sure to use a sharp blade.
Step 4:
On the long side of your gift, fold paper up and around, taping it at the bottom of the present. Then take the other side and do the same, so that the paper wraps around the gift and meets at the bottom to be taped closed.
Step 5:
The ends of the gift. Fold one side at a time! On one end of the package, for the paper so that it forms a sort of triangle. Then fold the triangle up towards the gift center (still the bottom of the gift where the other tape resides) and tape tightly.
Step 6:
Repeat with other side and make sure that the wrapping paper is tight to the gift.
Step 7:
Add ribbon. Cut a piece of ribbon that is long enough to wrap around the length of your gift 2x and then still has extra length. Start at the top of the gift and tape the center of the ribbon to the center of your gift. Wrap around the top side, cross it over itself at the bottom and wrap back around the width of your present, meeting a last time at the top center. Tie into a tight bow.
Step 8:
Curl your ribbon. Have a pair of scissors in open position and on one blade, place the ribbed side of the ribbon. With thumb, apply pressure to ribbon/blade and run the blade the length of the ribbon. The ribbon should then curly-q.
Step 9:
Finish off with a card. If you are feeling extra crafty at this point, then feel free to hand draw a card for extra ooomph. If not, buy a pack of those stickers with the Christmas logos on them and stick away. Use thick black ink and write the name of the gift receiver neatly.
