For a group of snooty politicians, Capitol Hill has been ablaze for years with steamy sex scandals and embarrassing moments that rival only the dirtiest "regular" folk. Washington is definitely no stranger to scandal and amid the most recent one with Spitzer, we just couldn't help ourselves. These are the most sensational stories, there are certainly more, around 50 to be more precise. From gay lovers and prostitution rings, to murder cases, and your run of the mill cheating man, these politicians have got it covered.
Mark Foley
One of many political leaders accused of inappropriate contact with congressional pages, Foley is especially known for sending naughty messages to a male page. Foley apparently sent numerous messages, but the first to come out was to a 16-year old page from Louisiana. Interestingly, Foley introduced legislation targeting sexual predators and harsher punishments for them. His scandal led to his resignation in 2006. Foley is not the first to have been accused of indiscretions with a page. Both Dan Cran and Gary Studds were censured for doing so.
Mel Reynolds
Convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of
justice and solicitation of child pornography, Mel Reynolds is
definitely one for this list. Reynolds, a black man, stated that his
allegations were racially charged and completely false. We later found
this was certainly not so. Reynolds was found guilty of having sex with
a 16-year-old campaign worker and then later pressuring her to lie
about it. Reynolds was sentenced to 5 years in prison for his acts.
Bob Packwood
If I had a penny for every sexually-harassing
congressman, I wouldn’t be rich, but I’d definitely have a lot more than I do now.
Packwood initially denied allegations in 1992 of sexual
harassment, but after a massive investigation, over a dozen women came forward citing numerous incidents in which he had crossed line.
His exploits range from nasty comments to full on groping. Packwood
later apologized blaming his problems on a serious drinking issue.
Larry Craig
Craig was accused of soliciting homosexual sex in a
Minnesota airport bathroom. Larry Craig was allegedly using hand and
foot signals to solicit sex when he was handed a card from an
undercover police officer. Craig first pleaded guilty for disorderly
conduct saying he did not want to have to appear in court. Following
the release of the audio recording from his arrest, Craig held that he
was not guilty and attempted to take back his guilty plea.
James McGreevey
As if cheating weren’t enough, Governor of New Jersey,
James McGreevey admitted his extramarital affair was with a male
security aide. According to him, the affair started 12 days after he was elected
governor. On the heels of a major lawsuit against his lover,
McGreevey decided to resign and openly admit to the public his
sexuality. McGreevey certainly ruffled a few people’s feathers on
Capitol Hill.
James West
West who often spoke out against gay rights was found embroiled in a steamy internet scandal with young boys. West later admitted to having sexual relations with adult men but never with underage individuals.
Wilbur Mills
There is no denying that 1974 sex scandal of Wilbur Mills should be on this list. Following a routine traffic stop in which Mills’ “Argentine Firecracker” leapt from the car and into the Tidal Basin, Mills was seen again frequenting the strip club where she was his favorite girl. After his long drawn out scandal, the big man on the Hill had a long tumble down, he checked himself into a hospital saying he was a “sick man.”
Randy “Duke” Cunningham
Cunningham was accused of hiring prostitutes
and was said to have been staying in a hotel in Hawaii with them. Federal agents said the prostitutes were allegedly a bribe. Cunningham
pleaded guilty to various charges, such as corruption, and was sentenced
to twelve years in prison.

David Vitter/Randall Tobias
Most known for his
connection with the “DC Madam” is Randall Tobias. His affiliation with
this prostitution ring ultimately caused him to resign. David Vitter is
also no stranger to the “DC Madam” prostitution ring. Vitter was found
to be one of many in Deborah Jeane Palfrey’s “little black book.”
Bob Allen
Co-Chairman of McCain’s Florida
campaign, Bob Allen faces charges of solicitation of prostitution.
Allen was arrested in Titusville after he offered to pay an undercover
officer $20 dollars for an unspecified sexual act. The park had long
been under investigation and for a mere $20 dollars Allen has created a
very sticky situation for himself.
Ken Calvert
Part of the growing list of
congressman who receive “favors” from prostitutes is Ken Calvert.
Calvert was found in his car apparently receiving oral sex from an
admitted prostitute.
Gary Condit
Sex scandal and murder go hand in hand for Gary Condit. Condit is best known for his steamy relationship with intern, Chandra Levy, who was two years younger than his daughter. Although we all know, a good affair is enough to drive the media crazy, but Condit took it to the next level when Levy turned up missing. Condit initially denied any involvement. On his third go around for questioning, Condit finally confessed his infidelity and affiliation with his young missing lover. To make matters worse, Gary Condit was caught trying to hide a gift box in dumpster. Chandra Levy was later found dead; she was a victim of homicide.
Eliot Spitzer
The man who will now be forever known as “Client 9”, Eliot Spitzer takes the cake (at the moment) for embarrassing sex scandals. The sensationalism surrounding his link to the Emperor’s Club, an online prostitution ring, has been unprecedented, causing Spitzer to resign from is position as Governor of New York. The shocking details of his most recent get together with a call girl by the name of "Kristen" were released earlier this month. Evidence of his long-standing VIP status at the club has proven too much for the governor to withstand. Show your support/love/hate of Spitzer with these Client 9 tees.

Bill Clinton
The king pin of all affairs and dirty little secrets is by far Bill Clinton. Regardless of whether or not we believe his infidelity to be a big deal or not, Clinton is undeniably #1 for media coverage and embarrassing moments. Aside from the millions of dollars spent on investigations and his impeachment, Clinton endured months of filthy details coming out about his numerous encounters. Not only does he have Lewinsky, the most well-known, but allegations of affairs and harassment by other females such as Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey had been coming out for years. His denial and the words “I did not have sexual relations with that woman” will forever ring in our minds. Clinton certainly has our #1 vote for embarrassing political sex scandal moments.
In case you forgot how funny Clinton sounded, or what Lewinsky looked like here's a helpful clip to refresh your memory.
