The election is finally over, and we have a winner. Barack Obama, Senator from Illinois. It's pretty historic and all that blah-blah-blah. But things are going to change. We tried to list some of the less obvious things.
Will Change:
1.) No More "Bush-isms"
Remember Bush-isms?? Those were the best. Everyone had a fun Bush calendar with another inane dumb comment on it, one for every day of the year. That was when Bush was "stupid funny," right before his presidency became "scary funny," and we all thought we were gonna die.
2.) Fox News Becomes Increasingly Angry
Every broadcast will be hilarious. They'll be like, "President O...Oba....Obama...I can't do this," just then, they tear the microphone off their lapel and storm out of the studio. However, it will give Bill O'Reilly a new format for his program. Instead of defending the president, he can go back to bashing the president. It'll be a nice change of pace.
3.) The rest of the world likes us a little more
Hey, it's not Bush. Right there, we scored some major points on the world stage. Who knows what kinds of diplomacy will be available now?
4.) No More Sarah Palin Jokes
That was fun times. Thanks to Sarah Palin being awful we had some seriously hilarious goofs on her. From Tina Fey to Youtube Fargo mashups, we got to enjoy a few months of solid political satire. Now she'll fade into the Alaskan landscape and we won't hear from her ever again (hopefully).
5.) More Or Less Racism?
Depending on where you were when the election results were announced, you may have noticed some racist reactions. Even here in New York people were grumbling about race. But some people noticed that usually racist people were delightfully UN-racist last night! It'll be interesting to see where this goes. Hopefully the less racist road.
6.) Saturday Night Live Half-Asses Political Satire
We'll be the first to say it: Saturday Night Live is back. Everyone loves hating on it, but we love it. It's been really strong lately, and we feel confident that it will continue on this route. But since Obama has been elected, the political satire will probably revolve more around lampooning the political pundits that hate/adore him instead of Obama himself...unless he sucks at being president, then it will be like normal.
Won't Change:
1.) Liberal vs. Conservative Hatred
Maybe for a little while we'll live in tolerance, happy that G.W. is gone, but the mudslinging will be back soon enough, if it isn't already.
