Nowadays Celebs do just about anything to get an edge, and many times it can be for the worse. We are featuring the top weight losses by celebrities, some positive examples that help extend lives, and some examples of extremely unhealthy weight loss. And now to the top 10 celebrity weight losses!
10. Hilary Duff- Pudgy as a preteen when she starred on Lizzie McGuire, Duff shed the poundage and became dangerously thin like Nicole Ritchie (and, also like Nicole, dated Joel Madden 9 years her senior) accompanied with a new dyed-brown ‘do. Avoided eating disorder rumors and regained a few pounds to maintain a healthy weight.
9. Courtney Love - Courtney recently emerged from rehab looking very much like a skeleton, and nowhere near the size that she used to be.
8. Oprah Winfrey- Lost weight in the 1980’s; on her show and preceded to roll a wagon of meat to show her viewers how much weight she dropped.
7. Richard Simmons- Richard Simmons really wasn’t a celebrity before his weight loss. He used it to create a successful empire for himself based a workout videos to help people lose the weight that he did.
6. Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliot - Missy lost wight due to health concerns, and actually angered many others at the same time. Either way Missy said she lost the weight for health reasons only.
5. Jared Fogle i.e. SUBWAY guy- Publicly spoke out against obesity by contributing his weight loss success to eating SUBWAY subs. This association with SUBWAY and weight loss allowed him to become the company’s spokesperson accompanied by the now infamous “fat pants.”
4. Nicole Ritchie- Dropped weight to a dangerously low level. Accused of eating disorders, and became so thin she weighed around 80 lbs; feared that her frail body wouldn’t be able to handle her new pregnancy with rocker boyfriend Joel Madden.
3. Al Roker- Shed nearly 100 lbs after gastric bypass surgery and dropped from a 54 to a 40 waist size. A week after the surgery, he returned to work as weatherman on NBC’s Today show.
2. Star Jones- Revealed to Glamour Magazine’s September issue that she had gastric bypass in August ‘03 and dropped 160 lbs over three years. She was previously intentionally evasive about how she lost all her weight until the Glamour interview.
1. Kirstie Alley- As Jenny Craig’s spokeswoman, she has broadcast her progress on national TV commercials and her goal to lose 70 pounds without surgery. That puts her at the number one spot because, hey, anyone can get surgery but she did it the hard way.

He defied doctor’s orders and ate nothing but coffee and apples until he hit the scary low weight target. When gaining weight back for Batman Begins, he actually shot the flashbacks first because he looked more like a skinny teen.
