VS
This past weekend, worlds collided when, in a desperate attempt to showcase the "more popular" fight, national chain Buffalo Wild Wings, made the mistake of naming the UFC Title Fight less worthy than Boxing. The Felix Trinidad vs. Roy Jones Jr match took over the big screen, leaving UFC fans to strain their neck and watch the fight projected onto a wall. For shame! We'll see who takes home the belt in this match...
UFC
To begin, the UFC was originally modeled after street fights - the only rules being, no kicks to the groin, no eye-gouges and no biting. Thats some tough shit! Just watch a Gerard Gordeau (6'5', 216 lb karate champion) vs Teila Tuli (6', 420 lb Sumo wrestler) as Gerard breaks the guys face, bare fisted. Hand wraps were not allowed, this is no holds barred!
So what else makes Ultimate Fighting better than Boxing?
Fighters are not limited to one technique.
Accepted techniques:
1.jiu-jitsu
2.karate
3.boxing
4.kickboxing
5.wrestling
Fighters must be overall tougher because they are taking blows to the head, gut and legs and they are forced to defend their entire body
It is a way to prolong a wrestling career
There ware 8 ways to win:
1. Submission by physical tap out or verbal tap out.
2. Technical knockout by the referee stopping the contest.
3. Decision via the scorecards
4. Technical decision.
5. Technical draw.
6. Disqualification.
7. Forfeit.
8. No contest.
Excessive Cauliflower ear!
Cauliflower ear is the disgusting/hilarious badge of honor worn by many mixed martial artists. It occurs when the ear suffers a blow, and a blood clot forms. The cartilage separates from the ear and dies, fluid fills the gaps, thus creating the famous cauliflower look that people know and love today. It is the mark of a true bad ass.

Boxing
Eh. We know that Boxing takes skill, relentless drive and grueling traingin sessions, but it just isn't as cool to watch.
One of the biggest reasons why boxing is such a shitfest is that there are never any unified titles
Fighters are smaller, leaner, more agile.
Many wrestlers make horrible boxers because of their dimensions, slow foot work.
Fighters are requires to defend their title every 6 months
The 30-day weigh-in: 4 weeks prior to the bout, the boxer’s weight must not exceed 10% of the weight limit for the bout, and
The 7-day weigh-in: 7 days prior to the bout, the boxer’s weight must not exceed 5% of the weight limit for the bout.
12 Rounds; 3 minutes each. Must have the stamina and determination to last 12 rounds.
"Strawweights" = 105-108 lbs. Gross. Why not just drool over pictures of anorexics? How much power is a malnourished 5' man really going to pack?
In MMA, the UFC is a great marketing machine and is able to have "champions" with the new addition of Pride. Boxing is an utter shitshow with 4 main sanctioning bodies:
World Boxing Association (W.B.A.)
World Boxing Council (W.B.C.)
International Boxing Federation (I.B.F.)
World Boxing Organization (W.B.O.)
International Boxing Organization (I.B.O.)
The worst party of boxing is the total corruption of the sport. Boxing has been known for corruption at every level for years, take a look at the last Mayweather/De La Hoya fight were Mayweather dominated but won only in a split decision.
