If you've kept up with the news, you may have heard that Joaquin Phoenix has given up on acting in order to pursue his "music career."  No one really knows if it's an Andy Kaufman-esque hoax for some bizarre reason, or if he's really serious.  After watching this interview, you may believe the latter.  The best thing is how David Letterman refuses to let anyone off the hook.  Even an Academy Award nominated actor like Joaquin Phoenix gets no mercy when he's in Letterman's house.  Someone's gotta keep these celebrities honest.

What the hell happened here?  Can you remember a more awkward interview in television history?  It's probable you've seen Letterman's Paris Hilton interview, but this one completely exceeds that...by miles.  Phoenix's complete lack of interest, coupled with his slurred speech and overall sluggish demeanor suggest substances are involved.  But then again, the guy's a great actor...perhaps he's...acting?  HMMMM?
